How to Make Longer Songs with Suno

Wondering how to prompt Suno to create longer songs? With the Extend feature, available in all Suno plans (Free, Pro, and Premier), you can seamlessly extend clips or full songs up to 1 minute. Here’s a guide on prompting Suno for extended clips. Extending Clips with Simple Suno Prompts

Click the EXTEND button on the clip you wish to extend. Extend from the original clip to create Part 2, then from Part 2 to create Part 3, and so on until the song reaches the desired length. Each generation will be labeled next to the clip’s name, with two clips created per job. You may see more if you re-roll a generation. Selecting a continued clip will highlight the earlier parts on the Create page.

Prompting Suno for Full Songs

To get a full song, click on the […] button on the final clip and choose Get Whole Song. The resulting clip will have all the parts stitched together seamlessly as one audio clip. No credits are charged for Get Whole Song, and the clip will be labeled as a Full Song. You can also use “Get Whole Song” between parts and then extend the result further. Advanced Prompting:

Extend From ending

The selected clip will load into the Extend From panel, and all generations will continue from the end of this clip. Use the Clear button to unload the Extend From panel.

Extend From timestamp

New in v3, the Extend From Time feature allows you to continue from an earlier point within the clip using a timestamp window (minutes:seconds). This is useful when:

  • The song ended too soon and can’t continue the usual way
  • There’s a mistake in the text or singing
  • You don’t like the end of the clip
  • You want to force the song to change its style
  • You want to create an instrumental lead-in before lyrics

Prompting Suno with Custom Mode for Lyrics and Style

To change the lyrics for the next part, switch on Custom Mode to access the Lyrics and Style prompts. Update the lyrics to continue with another verse and chorus (see “My words are wrong after Continue” for tips). You may also change the style prompt or keep it the same.

Conclusion

By understanding how to prompt Suno for extended clips and full songs, you’ll be able to create longer, more dynamic compositions tailored to your vision.
